SUMMARY:Legislative Day 2026 (Bleeding Disorders Council of CA)
DESCRIPTION:Our health care is under threat\, whether you get that care through Medi-Cal\, ACA marketplace coverage\, Medicare\, or your employer. Even those with private insurance will not go unaffected as broad cuts and changes to our health system will impact everyone. \nThis is the challenge of our time!  We need everyone in our community\, not only our Future Leaders\, to show up on Legislative Day\, March 23rd\, at the State Capitol in Sacramento.  You may not have lived through health insurance lifetime caps\, denials for pre-existing conditions and other insurance challenges from the before ACA times.  However\, everyone can appreciate how difficult those times were for families unable to get insurance for their children with bleeding disorders or themselves as adults.  We need to speak up now so that legislators don’t turn back the clock to those times again.\nSign up today at https://www.bdcouncilca.org/event/legislative-day-2025/ \nNuestra atención médica está en peligro\, ya sea que la obtenga a través de Medi-Cal\, Covered California\, Medicare o su empleador.

SUMMARY:HFSC Community Dinner - Claremont
DESCRIPTION:Educational Session on Hemlibra\nHosted by Mark Siy (Genentech) | Speakers: Mark Siy (Genentech) and Patient Ambassador Gabe\nEl Ranchero Mexican Food & Margaritas | 984 W Foothill Blvd Claremont CA 91711\nFor people with hemophilia A with or without factor VIII inhibitors\nWhat is HEMLIBRA?\nHEMLIBRA is a prescription medicine used for routine prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes in adults and children\, ages newborn and older\, with hemophilia A with or without factor VIII inhibitors. What is the most important information I should know about HEMLIBRA? HEMLIBRA increases the potential for your blood to clot. People who use activated prothrombin complex concentrate (aPCC; Feiba ® ) to treat breakthrough bleeds while taking HEMLIBRA may be at risk of serious side effects related to blood clots. \nThese serious side effects include:\n• Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA)\, a condition involving blood clots and injury to small blood vessels that may cause harm to your kidneys\, brain\, and other organs\n• Blood clots (thrombotic events)\, which may form in blood vessels in your arm\, leg\, lung\, or head\nPlease see Important Safety Information\, including Serious Side Effects\, as well as the accompanying HEMLIBRA full Prescribing Information and Medication Guide. \nThis program\, sponsored by Genentech\, will not provide medical advice. Speak with your healthcare provider if you have questions about your medical condition or treatment. [CEMs] are Genentech employees. [CEMs] do not provide medical advice. \nWhat is the most important information I should know about HEMLIBRA? (continued)\nCarefully follow your healthcare provider’s instructions regarding when to use an on-demand bypassing agent or factor VIII\, and the dose and schedule to use for breakthrough bleed treatment. If aPCC (Feiba® ) is needed\, talk to your healthcare provider in case you feel you need more than 100 U/kg of aPCC (Feiba® ) total. Your body may make antibodies against HEMLIBRA\, which may stop HEMLIBRA from working properly. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you notice that HEMLIBRA has stopped working for you (eg\, increase in bleeds). The most common side effects of HEMLIBRA include: injection site reactions (redness\, tenderness\, warmth\, or itching at the site of injection)\, headache\, and joint pain. These are not all of the possible side effects of HEMLIBRA. You can speak with your healthcare provider for more information.\nWhat else should I know about HEMLIBRA?\nSee the detailed “Instructions for Use” that comes with your HEMLIBRA for information on how to prepare and inject a dose of HEMLIBRA\, and how to properly throw away (dispose of) used needles and syringes.\n• Stop taking your prophylactic bypassing therapy the day before you start HEMLIBRA\n• You may continue taking your prophylactic factor VIII for the first week of HEMLIBRA\nHEMLIBRA may interfere with laboratory tests that measure how well your blood is clotting and create an inaccurate result. Speak with your healthcare provider about how this may affect your care.\nThese are not all of the possible side effects of HEMLIBRA. Speak to your healthcare provider for medical advice about side effects.\nSide effects may be reported to the FDA at (800) FDA-1088 or www.fda.gov/medwatch. You may also report side effects to Genentech\nat (888) 835-2555.\nPlease see Important Safety Information\, including Serious Side Effects\, as well as the accompanying\nHEMLIBRA full Prescribing Information and Medication Guide. \nThank you to Genentech for your sponsorship!
