Cynthia Chavez is the Outreach Manager for the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California. In this capacity, she is responsible for administering the Emergency Financial Resources programs and supporting families with insurance, among other duties.
She has previously worked as a social worker at other non-profits, Torres Martinez Tribal TANF and SRO Housing, assisting families to become self-sufficient, employed, pursue higher education, and prevented homelessness. She graduated from California State University of Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Ms. Chavez also has a personal connection to the foundation. She has two boys, an older sibling and cousins who have Hemophilia A, and prior to working at the foundation, she was very involved and attended all events. She enjoys working with the bleeding disorder community and being able to provide resources to the community. She helped found the Spanish speaking Women’s group, “Mujeres Enlazadas” where women can share their stories, receive education, and support each other in their journeys in a safe and culturally relevant environment. In her free time, she enjoys taking long jogs and hikes as well as traveling to Mexico.
